Uganda Virus Research Institute has been praised for impressive research in public health diseases. Speaking at the UVRI end of year party, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Dr Diana Atwine said the institute is significantly contributing to tackling disease outbreaks and emergencies in the country. She urged scientists and researchers to publicize their work to enable others to learn, support and build on what has been achieved.
She highlighted the institute’s recent discovery of a new strain of hepatitis C in the country, noting that such information on new developments should be shared both locally and internationally.
