1,162 samples tested Negative for COVID-19 at the Uganda Virus Research Institute on 16th April 2020.
839 samples were from truck drivers at border points while 323 samples were from individuals under institutional quarantine and contacts to the confirmed cases.
According to the press release from the Ministry of Health a cumulative of 1395 contacts to confirmed cases were listed to date in Uganda.
Of these 1,079 have completed the mandatory 14 day follow up period. The remaining 316 contacts are still being followed by surveillance teams.
The Director General of Health Services Dr Henry Mwebesa A total of 936 individuals have been discharged from institutional quarantine while 173 individuals are under quarantine.
Earlier, eight (8) COVID-19 patients were discharged today from Mulago and Hoima hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus disease.
7 patients were discharged from Mulago National Specialised hospital while One (1) was discharged from Hoima hospital.
So far 20 patients have recovered from COVID-19 while active cases are 35.
Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 death.
