Four (4) new cases were confirmed for COVID-19 out of the 1,989 samples tested. All new confirmed cases are Tanzanian truck drivers who arrived via Mutukula border. Total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 stands at 79 in Uganda. Of the 1,989 samples tested, 1,578 samples are from truck drivers while all 411 samples from community tested negative for covid-19.
The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners including truck drivers as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 79 cases for Uganda. Total covid-19 recoveries in Uganda is 46.
Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
