Covid-19 Update 13-09-2020

3 COVID-19 deaths from Kampala registered today. This brings the total COVID-19 deaths to 55.
Results from COVID-19 tests done on 12 September 2020 confirmed 96 new COVID-19 cases.
The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 4,799. The breakdown of the new cases are:
88 contacts and alerts: Kampala (33), Buikwe (28), Jinja (4), Soroti (4), Lira (3), Kibuku (2), Mbarara (2), Terego (2), Tororo (2), Amolatar (1), Arua (1), Iganga (1), Masindi (1), Ngora (1), Moroto (1), Pader (1), Wakiso (1).
7 truck drivers: Malaba (3), Bunagana (2), Elegu (2) and 1 returnee from DRC.
According to the Ministry of Health – Uganda, following a Presidential Directive of deducting all foreign truck drivers from Uganda’s case count, the confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 4,799. The total number of recoveries stands at 2,256 in Uganda. Uganda has registered 55 COVID-19 related deaths. Total number of samples tested today were 3,350. 413 samples from points of entry and 2,937 samples from contacts and alerts.  Remember to consistently and correctly wear cotton fabric masks when in public; with the increased number of community spread cases. Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you. We will keep you informed of any updates in the national and WHO guidelines as and when they arise.
