One new case of COVID -19 has been confirmed at UVRI today

One new case of COVID -19 was confirmed at the Uganda Virus Research Institute on the 17th April 2020.

The new case is a 34-year-old Tanzanian truck driver from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania who arrived at Mutukula border post on the 16th April 2020. He did not have any signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Health, efforts are underway to track the driver and return him to Tanzania.

A total of 1,120 samples were tested today. 744 samples were from truck drivers at border points while 376 samples were from individuals under quarantine and contacts in Uganda.

 The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Uganda is still 55. Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 death.
