Science Technology and Innovation-Office of the President and Presidential Scientific Initiative on Epidemics (PRESIDE) arranged the visit of the WHO Regional Expert Advisory Committee on Traditional Medicine for COVID-19 Response(REACT) mission to UVRI.
The WHO Regional Expert Advisory Committee on Traditional Medicine for COVID-19 Response ( WHO REACT Mission) visited UVRI today on 7th March 2022 to assess the work being done on In- Vitro Therapeutic studies of Natural products.
They were led by the Head of delegation WHO REACT Mission, Prof Okeibunor Joseph. The campus tour was led by Professor Pontiano Kaleebu.
“ We should embrace working in teams to build on synergies than working in Silos, it wastes a lot of resources and encourages duplication of efforts “ Hon Dr Monica Musenero.
''This visit is very important as it fosters working together with the Traditional medicine practitioners, and many other stakeholders while following the Scientific procedures, to generate dependable Scientific evidence to support this sector.'' said Proff Kaleebu.
''It has been a great pleasure taking them through the work on In- Vitro Therapeutic studies.'' said Dr Jackie Kyosiimire-Lugemwa.
In-vitro studies is among the Government of Uganda funded projects under PRESIDE.
Dr Sheila was giving a brief on COVID19 vaccine research work in the meeting.
