UVRI and Imperial College London to start the first Covid-19 vaccine trial in the country by December

The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) is partnering with Imperial College London to start the first Covid-19 vaccine trial in the country by December. Prof Pontiano Kaleebu, the UVRI Director, while addressing the daily Monitor news, informed them that they are completing necessary internal processes before beginning to enrol volunteers for the trial.

Covid-19 Update 06-08-2020

Results of COVID-19 tests done on 04 August 2020 confirm 10 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to-date is 1,213. Please see attached Press Release for more details and information. 16 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.

Covid-19 Update 18-07-2020

Results from COVID-19 tests done on 17 July 2020, 6 new COVID-19 cases confirmed. The cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 1,062. 1 alert from Buikwe District, 5 returnees who were under quarantine at the time of test. Regarding the returnees, 4 returned from South Africa while 1 Indian, a resident of Uganda returned from India.

Covid-19 Testing

Results of COVID-19 tests done on 08 July 2020 confirm 23 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans are now 1,000.  Please see attached Press Release for more details and information. 31 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.
